There was a strong trade for Black Welsh Mountain Sheep at the Annual Show & Sale that took place on 4th September 2008 at Abergavenny Livestock Market.
The rams met an especially lively trade selling to a top price of 700gns for a shearling ram from Christopher Garn of St Maughans, Monmouth, the 5th prize entry sold to I Whistondale, Edgeware, Gloucestershire.
Two entries sold at 500gns, the first call was for the 2nd prize shearling from Association President Patricia Laws, Winford, Bristol selling to D R L Williams, Talley who also took the other, a ram lamb from S-J, D & G Jones, Haverfordwest.

Patricia Laws sold her 6th prize ram lamb for 480gns to Francis & Judith Lister, Meshaw, Devon, and her 1st prize shearling ram & male champion to Michael & Susan Slater, Eversley, Hants at 440gns.
Julia Patterson sold her 4th prize shearling ram at 450gns to T & C Williams, Montgomery, with another from S-J, D & G Jones making 440gns to Mathew Price, Lower Chapel, Brecon.
E O Williams, Talybont On Usk sold the 1st prize ram lamb & res male champion at 390gns to Penny Warner, Steyning, West Sussex. Julia Patterson sold the 1st prize older ram for 330gns to M Griffiths, Redbrook, Monmouth.
The 1st prize shearling ewes & female champions were shown by E O Williams, and purchased at 195gns by M Griffiths, Monmouth.
D R L Williams, Talley showed the 1st prize ewe lambs later selling at 160gns a piece to the Bowden Family, Seven Sisters.
