OFFICIAL SHOW & SALE OF BLACK WELSH MOUNTAIN SHEEP FRIDAY 26TH AUGUST

Black Welsh Mountain Sheep Breeders again gathered at Monmouthshire Market for the Annual Official Show & Sale. A grand quality entry of sheep form the top breeders throughout the UK drew a huge contingent of buyers, again proving the value of this long established Sale for selling quality Black Welsh Sheep.

The Sale again set a new Breed record when Will Workman, Trecastle sold his shearling ram at 2,900gns to local buyers Llanover Estate, Abergavenny. Another outstanding sale came at 2,400gns for another shearling ram from Messrs Palmer & Hayward, Dinas Powis, which was purchased by SM Forsyth, Heol Senni. Last years’ record setters M & D Evans, Abergavenny then sold their shearling at 1,200gns to G Morgan, Swffryd. Mark Evans, Swansea completed the 1,000gns plus sales when his ram lamb sold at 1,100gns to K Davies, Penybont. DRL Williams, Talley sold the 2nd prize shearling ram & Reserve Male Champion at 900gns to A Rann, Shalfleet. D & R Rowlands, Gaerwen sold a ram lamb at 600gns to W Workman, Trecastle, with H & K Williams, Llandeilo selling one at 550gns to E Morgan, Penallta, and another from D & R Rowlands at 500gns to K Jones, Hereford. E Stephens, Garthbrengy sold the 1st prize shearling ram & Male Champion at 500gns to J Griffiths, Newport, with a 2 year old ram from P Bertorelli, Bridgend topping at 480gns to K Bowman, Abercrave. MJ McCaull, Hereford sold his shearling ram at 440gns to ET & E Greenow, Hereford.

In a strong Female Section, top selling came from EO Williams, Talybont On Usk with their 2nd prize shearling ewe, selling at 600gns to R Wilson, Miskin. C Garn, Monmouth sold to 500gns with the 1st prize shearling ewe & Female Champion, which was taken by C Morgan-Gervais, Brecon. D & R Rowlands topped the ewe lambs at 430gns selling to E Stephens, Garthbrengy, and also selling a shearling ewe at 410gns to Ffion Evans, Abergavenny. MD & DL Evans sold shearling ewes at 400gns & 380gns to R Rochford, Wincanton and K Jones, Hereford. W Workman sold the 1st prize & Reserve Champion ewe lamb at 400gns to G Morgan, Swffryd. Older ewes (2-3yo) sold to 110gns from W Workman and were purchased by J Buckley, Hemyock.
