BWMSBA 2021 Flock Competition

Posted: 5th August 2021

Due to the lack of events recently, BWMSBA has decided to run a national flock competition.

Entries will be accepted from breeders wherever they are within the UK until 31st August. One of the aims was to keep this as inclusive as possible to allow as many members as possible to enter so the entry fee has been kept to only £10. There will also a special class for  members aged 16 and under, for which no entry fee will be charged. Younger members will also be able to enter the main classes, but will need to pay a fee if they wish to take part in those too.

The entry will be split up according to the number of breeding ewes in the flock, with categories for  flock of 15 or less ewes, 16 - 40 ewes and larger flocks of 41 oe more. In addition, there’ll be specials for the best group of replacement ewe lambs and the best bunch of tup lambs.

A nationwide flock competition is quite an undertaking for any judge, so BWMSBA is lucky that Edd Williams and his father Glyn, both on the major show judges list, have offered to take this on, at no cost to the association, allowing entry fees to be kept low. Many thanks to Edd and Glyn for this generous offer.

The closing date for entries has been set for Wednesday 31st August, with judging to take place in September and into October as necessary. Please send your entries to  address on the entry form, also on the front of this newsletter.
